This study studied corrosion in 0.1 M Na2SO4, 0.1 M NaCl, and 0.6 M NaCl, all saturated with Mg(OH)2, using weight loss, hydrogen evolution, and electrochemical measurements. Corrosion was similar in all cases. Nevertheless, the corrosion rates were alloy-dependent, were somewhat lower in 0.1 M Na2SO4 than in 0.1 M NaCl, and increased with NaCl concentration. The corrosion damage morphology was similar for all solutions; the extent correlated with the corrosion rate. The corrosion rates evaluated by the electrochemical methods were lower than those evaluated from hydrogen evolution, consistent with the Mg corrosion mechanism involving the unipositive Mg+ ion. 相似文献

A high abundance of methane and its relatively low price make it an attractive raw feedstock for the production of ethylene, which is in the consumer demand in recent years. Direct catalytic nonoxidative conversion is interesting, because it could be utilized on natural gas well sites. Monometallic and bimetallic Fe and Mo catalysts were prepared for the purpose of the coupling to ethane and ethene. Three supported materials were synthesized with the following loading of metal: 2.5‐wt% Fe, 5.0‐wt% Fe, and 2.5‐wt% Mo on HZSM‐5. Process' chemical reactions were also catalyzed with a constant 2.5‐wt% Mo/HZSM‐5, which had different amounts of Fe, namely, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.5 wt%. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), N2 adsorption/desorption, NH3 temperature‐programmed desorption (TPD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X‐ray diffraction (XRD) were applied for characterization. Coke, accumulated on spent solids, was determined by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Activity was evaluated in quartz‐packed bed reactor. All surfaces suffered from deactivation due to carbon formation. The addition of Fe to Mo increased CH4 reacted. The highest selectivity for alkenes was achieved over 1.0‐wt% Fe to 2.5‐wt% Mo/HZSM‐5. At the peak of performance, the C‐based reactivity was 52% for olefins and 2% for alkanes. Stability was accomplished over 2.5‐wt% Fe/HZSM‐5, where the rate of C2 synthesis was comparatively stable for 20 hours of the time on stream. The selective C‐basis yield for C2H4 and C2H6 was 36% and 23%, respectively. The lowest measured quantity of (carbonaceous) by‐products was deposited on 2.5‐wt% Fe/HZSM‐5 after 26 hours. Sphingolipids are crucial for the life of the cell. In land‐dwelling mammals, they are equally important outside the cell—in the extracellular space of the skin barrier—because they prevent loss of water. Although a large body of research has elucidated many of the functions of sphingolipids, their extensive structural diversity remains intriguing. A new class of sphingolipids based on 6‐hydroxylated sphingosine has recently been identified in human skin. Abnormal levels of these 6‐hydroxylated ceramides have repeatedly been observed in atopic dermatitis; however, neither the biosynthesis nor the roles of these unique ceramide subclasses have been established in the human body. In this Minireview, we summarize the current knowledge of 6‐hydroxyceramides, including their discovery, structure, stereochemistry, occurrence in healthy and diseased human epidermis, and synthetic approaches to 6‐hydroxysphingosine and related ceramides. 相似文献

In 1974, (E)‐1‐nitropentadec‐1‐ene, a strong lipophilic contact poison of soldiers of the termite genus Prorhinotermes, was the first‐described insect‐produced nitro compound. However, its biosynthesis remained unknown. In the present study, we tested the hypothesis that (E)‐1‐nitropentadec‐1‐ene biosynthesis originates with condensation of amino acids with tetradecanoic acid. By using in vivo experiments with radiolabeled and deuterium‐labeled putative precursors, we show that (E)‐1‐nitropentadec‐1‐ene is synthesized by the soldiers from glycine or L ‐serine and tetradecanoic acid. We propose and discuss three possible biosynthetic pathways. 相似文献

This paper reports preliminary computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of backdraft observed in an experimental rig at Lund University. The analysis was performed with the CFX software using the Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) turbulence model, a hybrid of Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and RANS, in combination with the EDM combustion model. The DES model uses a RANS formulation in wall proximity to avoid computationally expensive grid resolution that is necessary for realistic LES predictions in wall layers. 相似文献

Materials with broad absorption bands are highly desirable for electromagnetic filtering and processing applications, especially if the absorption can be externally controlled. Here, a new class of broadband‐absorption materials is introduced. Namely, layered metamagnets exhibit an electromagnetic excitation continuum in the magnetic‐field‐induced mixed ferro‐ and antiferromagnetic phase. Employing a series of complementary experimental techniques involving neutron scattering, muon spin relaxation, specific heat, ac and dc magnetization measurements, and electron magnetic resonance, a detailed magnetic phase diagram of Cu3Bi(SeO3)2O2Br is determined and it is found that the excitations in the mixed phase extend over at least ten decades of frequency. The results, which reveal a new dynamical aspect of the mixed phase in metamagnets, open up a novel approach to controllable microwave filtering. 相似文献

An annular laser beam based powder cladding head, which enables an axial powder feeding and variation of the laser beam intensity distribution (LBID) on the workpiece surface is presented. The influence of typical LBIDs, including Ring, Tophat(?), Tophat(+), and Gaussian-like, on a cladding process has been characterized based on the process and melt pool visualization, powder catchment efficiency, clad layer geometry, and porosity. The results showed that the most stable process without plasma formation but with low dilution and porosity of the clad layer can be achieved within the range from a Ring to a Tophat(?) LBID. Additionally, axial powder feeding results in a high powder catchment efficiency above 80%. 相似文献
